Our meet-ups are a great chance to connect with other local LGBTQ+ people and allies and take part in some creative activities. This month Katie Schrieber will be leading a Plushie workshop!
Compact companions - Plushie making workshop
In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, participants will create their own plushie—a small, portable companion made from fabric scraps and sentiments close to home. These objects, can become markers of affirmation and comfort as we navigate shared housing, temporary spaces, or transitions away from home.
You are welcome to bring with you a sentimental item to stitch into your plushie – this could be an old item of clothing, a family heirloom, a colour that represents your identity or even a favourite scent. Or take inspiration from the materials that will be provided on the day. No previous experience necessary – just come and experiment!
This workshop offers a space to reflect on how we make room for ourselves in precarious places—and how soft objects and small acts of making can nurture autonomy, belonging, and self-expression.
